Gallipoli 1915 is considered one of the most important events in shaping New Zealand's national identity. Of the 8556 New Zealanders who served on Gallipoli, 2721 died and 4752 were wounded during the 8 month campaign. The landing of the Anzacs on 25th April is commemorated in Anzac Day which has gone on to be a day for honouring the sacrifices made by New Zealanders in all wars.
